School History
Our school Pope John Paul II Model Secondary School was founded 2006. The School is located in Umunagbor Amagbor Ihitte in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. We were originally named Mater Eccleasiae Secondary School at foundation but changed to the present name in 2007.
The founding of Pope John Paul II Model School was an act of God in answer to the prayerful longing of Bishop Chikwe to provide education to the post primary school children of the middle and low income earners. Through the support and coordination of Rev. Fr. Sylvester Ihuoma, the school building project was sponsored by Germans under the auspices of Ecumenical One World – Saint Nikolaus Wolback under the care of Mrs. Ingrid Sieverding – Munster, Germany. Together with local support from the home front as coordinated by a Voluntary Organization in the diocese known as Mbaise Educational Development Forum who were charged the execution of the project.
On the 24th November, 2006, the school opened her doors for the 2006/2007 academic year with Very Rev. Msgr. Paul Amakiri as the first principal (November 2006- March 2007). On this first day of school, 45 students (made up of 30 males and 15 females) were received. The school progressed into the 2006/2007 academic year with about seventy two (72) students and eight (8) member staff.
The second principal of the school was Rev. Fr. Francis Amaliri (March 2007-Oct.2007). He received the second set of students in September 2007. Rev. Fr. Dr. Innocent Olekamma became the third principal (October 2007 – March 2008). He formed the Parents Teachers Association of the school and organized their first meeting. The forth and longest serving Principal of the school was Rev. Fr. Timothy Okeahialam (March 2008-2019), under whom the school witnessed a phenomenal growth. He handed over to the current principal, Rev. Fr. Augustine C. Onuoha (January 2019 till date).
Under these priests, and not without the support of their collaborators, the school has grown from strength to strength. She has gone through the following:
